The ocean community may be the most passionate group in the entire environmental movement. That’s a good thing, because we’re also probably the smallest.
Because we’re small relative to the rest, every single person in the movement matters. Ocean activists can still win big, but only when we all fight together.
Right now, we have reached a moment in time when we all need to come together. The oceans need more political power in Washington, D.C., and as the only ocean organization that helps elect pro-ocean candidates, we need your help. We’ve set a goal of electing 40 pro-ocean candidates in 2012 – more than ever before. To do this, we need the support of as many ocean activists as possible. Please engage in this battle by joining Ocean Champions.
Thanks to support from activists like you, we’ve been able to win 80% of our elections, and we’ve helped deliver dozens of champions since 2004. Today, there are 30 ocean champions in Congress, but with the tone on Capitol Hill today, we clearly need more.
