Ocean Champions Announces Full Support of Candidate Nick Leibham in California's 50th District
In what is turning out to be a very close race, Ocean Champions announces their support for Democrat, Nick Leibham in California's 50th Congressional District. This district, which is known for its beautiful beaches and popular surf breaks, includes parts of San Diego, La Jolla, Cardiff and Del Mar, and a crucial economic stronghold for California's coast. In this important ecological coastal district facing challenges such as red tide and offshore drilling, it is imperative that an ocean champion such as Leibham get elected for the future environmental health of this region.
The protection of the environment and oceans is one of the cornerstones to Leibham's campaign. "The fact that Nick proactively sought the support of Ocean Champions tells us a lot about the caliber of his commitment to ocean health, and deep understanding of the political landscape," said David Wilmot, PhD, President and Co-Founder of Ocean Champions.
Nick Leibham is running a race aimed at serving not just the citizens of California's 50th district, but connecting those issues to the complex problems facing our nation's oceans. "We believe Nick will be as strong a voice for ocean conservation in Congress as he has been on the campaign trail," said Wilmot. "And we believe Nick demonstrates that it takes more to be an ocean champion than hanging a surf board in a D.C. office," Wilmot added.
"I am honored to have the endorsement of Ocean Champions because we share the same values. Oceans and water quality have been a major pillar in my campaign and I look forward to making them a major focus of my leadership," added Leibham.
