Ocean Enemy #1 Is Back!

Richard Pombo is running for Congress...again!

That's right, the man dubbed ocean enemy #1 before we helped beat him in 2006 is back from the political graveyard and running again. If that isn't scary enough, consider this:

If Pombo were to win, and the Republicans took back a majority in the House, he could be reestablished as Chairman of the Natural Resources Committee, or as he calls it, the Resources Committee.

If this were to happen, he would be back to his old tricks, stripping bare ALL our precious coasts, parks and natural wonders, regardless of the consequences. In fact:

In a recent debate, Pombo declared that he was coming back to finish the job, and promptly touted his attacks on the Endangered Species Act. Shortly thereafter, he attended a fundraiser hosted by mining interests (think they care about ocean health?)

When he was the Chairman of the Natural Resources Committee, he compiled one of the worst environmental records ever (LCV Lifetime score of 7) by:

Last year, oil and gas organizations spent $154 million lobbying for their self interests, and the electric utility industry spent $135 million. Oil and gas interests have already given $8 million in electoral contributions to their favorite candidates, and coal has given $15 million. These guys love Pombo! And he's loved them right back.  Do we want to see this again?

As part of a great environmental coalition, we've beaten him once and we're jumping in to beat him again. However, we can't do it without your support. Please donate today to help defeat Ocean Enemy #1 Richard Pombo, and send him packing once and for all.
